ACTION: Notice of Open Meeting.

SUMMARY: This notice announces a meeting of the Fusion Energy Sciences Advisory Committee. The Federal Advisory Committee Act (Pub. L. 92-463, 86 Stat. 770) requires that public notice of these meetings be announced in the Federal Register.

DATES: Wednesday, August 1, 2001, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, August 2, 2001, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Purpose of the Meeting: The major purpose of this meeting is for the full committee to complete its work on the Theory Program review charge and the Burning Plasma Science charge. The committee will also receive briefings on the various elements of the Compact Stellarator program, and the ITER Canada proposal to host the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).

The Chairperson of the Committee will conduct the meeting to facilitate the orderly conduct of business. Public comment will follow the 10-minute rule.
