Commission To Hold Bandwidth en banc Hearing July 9, 1998

June 30, 1998.

The Federal Communications Commission will hold an en banc hearing on Thursday, July 9, 1998, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Commission Meeting Room (Room 856) at 1919 M. Street, NW., Washington, DC.

At the en banc hearing, the Commission will hear from panels of experts regarding bandwidth issues in the last mile of our nation's telecommunications infrastructure and in connectivity to and between our nation's small and rural communities. The panelists will also address how these issues impact the deployment of advanced telecommunications capabilities and broadband technologies in the United States.

The en banc is open to the public, and seating will be available on a first come, first served basis. The meeting can be viewed over George Mason University's Capitol Connection. For information on this service call (703) 993-3100. The en banc will also be carried live on the Internet. Internet users may listen to the real-time audio feed of the en banc by accessing the FCC Internet Audio Broadcast Home Page. Step- by-step instructions on how to listen to the audio broadcast, as well as information regarding the equipment and software needed, are available on the FCC Internet Audio Broadcast Home Page. A transcript of the en banc will be available 10 days after the event on the FCC's Internet site.
