SUMMARY: The Federal Emergency Management Agency, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on a proposed new information collection. In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this Notice seeks comments concerning the information collection activities for the Urban Areas
Security Initiative (UASI) Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP).
DATES: Comments must be submitted on or before January 19, 2010.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: FEMA's Urban Areas Security Initiative
(UASI) Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) provides funding support for target hardening activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack. The collection of information for the
UASI Nonprofit Security Grant Program is mandated by Section 2003 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (6 U.S.C. 604), as amended by Section 101, Title I of the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission
Act of 2007 (Pub. L. 110-053).

Abstract: The NSGP is an important tool among a comprehensive set of measures to help strengthen the Nation against risks associated with potential terrorist attacks. FEMA uses the information to evaluate applicants' familiarity with the national preparedness architecture and identify how elements of this architecture have been incorporated into regional/state/local planning, operations, and investments. Information collected provides narrative details on proposed activities
(Investments) that will be accomplished with grant funds and prioritizes the list of applicants from each requesting State. This program is designed to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, State and local government agencies, and Citizen Corps
Councils.
