New England Fishery Management Council; Public Meetings

AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.

ACTION: Public meetings.

SUMMARY: The New England Fishery Management Council (Council) is scheduling a public meeting of its Herring Committee to be held jointly with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's (ASMFC) Herring Section to consider actions affecting New England fisheries in the

exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Recommendations developed by this group will be brought to the full Council for formal consideration and action, if appropriate.

DATES: The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 1998.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Council Herring Committee and ASMFC Herring Section will review public hearing comments and select final management measures for the Atlantic Herring Fishery Management Plan for recommendation to the full Council. They will also approve recommendations for the specification of ABC, OY, DAH, Reserve, DAP, JVP, BT, IWP and TACs for the 1999 fishing year.

Although other issues not contained in this agenda may come before this Council for discussion, in accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, those issues may not be the subject of formal Council action during this meeting. Council action will be restricted to those issues specifically listed in this notice.
