(a) General. All newly elected or appointed judges and attorneys must file with the comptroller's office an IRS Form W4 indicating their social security number, marital status, and number of exemptions claimed prior to receiving their first payment.

(b) Date placed on state payroll. If the legislature is in regular session, the newly appointed judge is placed on the payroll the day the judge's appointment is confirmed by a two-thirds vote of the senate or the day the judge takes the oath of office, whichever is later. If the legislature is not in session, the newly appointed judge is placed on the payroll on the day the judge took the oath of office.
