Notice of Application and Soliciting Comments, Motions To Intervene, and Protests

August 21, 2006.

  1. Type of Application: Request to construct a community marina.

  2. Project Number: Project No. 1267-077.

  3. Date Filed: July 31, 2006.

  4. Applicant: Greenwood County, South Carolina.

  5. Name of Project: Buzzard's Roost Hydroelectric Project (FERC No. 1267).

  6. Location: The project is located on the Saluda River in Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry Counties, South Carolina.

  7. Filed Pursuant to: Federal Power Act, 16 U.S.C. 791(a), 825(r) and 799 and 801.

  11. Description of Application: The applicant seeks approval to replace an existing seawall and construct a new marina at the Lighthouse Landing concessionaire. The new marina would consist of four separate piers providing an additional 110 docking slips. The approximate footprint of the new construction would extend up to 150 from the shoreline and would be 145 feet in width. The docks will be constructed of aluminum framing, encapsulated polystyrene floats, and pressure treated lumber, Brazilian redwood or synthetic decking. The docks will be secured in place using flexible hawsers fastened to anchors.

Comments, Protests, or Motions to Intervene--Anyone may submit comments, a protest, or a motion to intervene in accordance with the requirements of Rules of Practice and Procedure, 18 CFR 385.210, .211, .214. In determining the appropriate action to take, the Commission will consider all protests or other comments filed, but only those who file a motion to intervene in accordance with the Commission's Rules may become a party to the proceeding. Any comments, protests, or motions to intervene must be received on or before the specified comment date for the particular application.

Filing and Service of Responsive Documents--Any filings must bear in all capital letters the title ``COMMENTS'', ``RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TERMS AND CONDITIONS'', ``PROTEST'', or ``MOTION TO INTERVENE'', as applicable, and the Project Number of the particular application to which the filing refers (p-1267-077).
