AGENCY: Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, DOD.

ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: In accordance with 37 CFR 404.6, announcement is made of the availability for licensing of U.S. Patent Application No. 09/556,954 entitled ``Treatment of and/or Prophylaxis Against Brain and Spinal Cord Injury'' and filedApril 21, 2000. The United States Government, as represented by the Secretary of the Army, has rights in this invention.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The administration of -lipoic acid (-LA) and dihydrolipoic acid (DHL) both as a preventive measure before exposure to conditions which may cause damage, such as rapid changes in atmospheric pressure, and as a means of preventing or ameliorating damage arising from such injury provides benefits not currently available. The active agents may be administered systematically or to the injured tissue. For example, when there is spinal cord injury, the active agents may be administered intrathecally.
