Take notice that the following hydroelectric application has been filedwith the Commission and is available for public inspection:

  1. Type of application: New Major License.

  2. Project No.: 2659-011.

  3. Date Filed: February 25, 1998.

  4. Applicant: PacifiCorp.

  5. Name of Project: Powerdale Hydroelectric Project

  6. Location: On the Hood River, near the town of Hood River, in Hood River County, Oregon. The project boundary does not occupy any federal lands of the United States.

  7. FiledPursuant to: Federal Power Act 16 USC Secs. 791(a)-- 825(r).

  10. Brief Description of the Project: The existing project consists of: (1) a 206-foot-long and 10-foot-high diversion dam; (2) 80-foot by 60-foot concrete intake structure; (3) an approximately 16,000-foot- long water conveyance system; (4) an 86-foot-wide by 51-foot-long concrete powerhouse; (5) one turbine generator unit with a rated capacity of 6.0 megawatts; (6) a 135-foot-long rock-lined tailrace; and (7) other appurtenances.

  11. With this notice, we are initiating consultation with the OREGON STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICER (SHPO), as required by Sec. 106, National Historic Preservation Act, and the regulations of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, 36, CFR, at 800.4.

  12. Under Section 4.32(b)(7) of the Commission's regulations (18 CFR 4.32(b)(7)), if any resource agency, Indian Tribe, or person believes that the applicant should conduct an additional scientific study to form an adequate factual basis for a complete analysis of the application on its merits, they must file a request for the study with the Commission, not later than 60 days after the application is filed, and must serve a copy of the request on the applicant.
