ACTION: Proposed rule; extension of comment period.

SUMMARY: The Employment and Training Administration and the Employment

Standards Administration recently issued a proposed rule to modernize the application process for and enforcement of temporary alien agricultural (H-2A) labor certifications. 73 FR 8538 (Feb. 13, 2008).

The proposed rule provided a comment period through March 31, 2008. The agencies have received several requests to extend the comment period and have decided to extend the comment period through April 14, 2008.

DATES: The comment period for the notice of proposed rulemaking published February 13, 2008 (73 FR 8538) is extended through April 14, 2008. Interested persons are invited to submit written comments on the proposed rule on or before April 14, 2008.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In February 2008, the Employment and

Training Administration and the Employment Standards Administration of the Department of Labor issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking rule to modernize the application process for and enforcement of temporary alien agricultural (H-2A) labor certifications. 73 FR 8538 (Feb. 13, 2008). The proposed rule provided a comment period through March 31, 2008. The agencies have received several requests to extend the comment period and have decided to extend the comment period. Given the complexity of the proposed rule and the intense level of interest, the comment period is being extended through April 14, 2008.
